For teachers and students of second and foreign languages

Language Learning
Express (Lex)
Lex is primarily a tool for the autonomous language
learner to work on authentic material on the World Wide Web. But it can also be used to
foster autonomy when used
both by the teacher and the students in a classroom setting. The students will
then in a natural way learn how to use Lex during
class. Lex can be used both to work on course material as well as
authentic material. After the course the
students can continue to use the very same tool to work on authentic
material on the Web to keep their knowledge fresh up to date and further improve their
language skills.
What you can do with LexLex contains
several web browser windows in which
you can surf the Web to find interesting authentic material. When
an interesting site has been found you can easily look up
words, listen to pronunciations, highlight words and even make
gap-filling
exercises. Lex uses various sites on the Web to look up words in
both bilingual and monolingual dictionaries. As part of the look up
process you can build up your own glossary, which later on can be
used to make glossary exercises.
